Professional installation is recommended for Vertical Stripe. This wallcovering is printed on a natural grasscloth ground and should be handled carefully before and during installation.
Vertical Stripe is a paste-the-wall wallcovering. Use a good quality, pre-mixed tub adhesive suitable for non-woven wallpapers. Paste should be applied directly to the wall, not to the printed surface of the wallcovering.
Before Installation
- Do not cut or install until all instructions have been read carefully.
- Check that you have received the correct product and enough wallcovering to complete the installation.
- Inspect all panels before cutting or hanging to ensure they are free from defects or damage.
- Walls should be dry, clean, smooth, and properly prepared before installation.
- Remove old wallpaper, loose paint, and any uneven surface material before hanging.
- Measure carefully before cutting each drop.
- Plan seam placement before hanging, especially around corners, fireplaces, feature walls, and focal points.
Preparing the Wallcovering
- Lightly dampen the non-woven backing before hanging.
- Book the wallcovering for approximately 2 minutes before installation.
- Do not over-soak the wallcovering.
- Work with one length at a time.
Pasting and Hanging
- Apply adhesive evenly to the wall, covering an area slightly wider than the width of the wallcovering.
- Use a plumb line when hanging the first length to ensure it is straight.
- Smooth the wallcovering using a paperhanger’s brush, working from the centre toward the edges to remove air bubbles.
- Trim excess from the top and bottom using a metal edge and sharp blade.
- Change blades regularly to ensure clean cuts.
- Hang a few drops first, then stand back and check you are happy with the result before continuing.
Important Notes
- Do not allow paste to come into contact with the printed surface.
- Keep hands clean and dry while handling the wallcovering.
- Paste may damage the surface if not removed immediately.
- If any defect is noticed during installation, stop hanging and contact the supplier before continuing.
