Product Description
MLAK (Karlee-Anne Louise Mackie) was born with crayons in her hand, painting and expressing her ideas through imagery from a very young age. As Australia’s first female professional free surfer turned artist, based in Byron Bay NSW, her approach to painting is organic, pure and unrestrained.
“The Adventures of ( a cat named) Lucky- depicts the many personalities of a star-gazing, cocktail- swilling, romantic crack-shot petrolhead fashionista cat, which at least a couple of traits reside in each and every one of us. Which do you resonate with most?
Comm de Nom and MLAK present the first of a series of Australian artist collab murals.
Mural dimensions are 300cm high by 340cm wide- trimmable at installation to suit your space.
Printed on a Bleached Sisal Grasscloth ground, MLAK combines expressive artwork with a tactile natural texture. The medium weave sisal surface adds depth and character to the print, giving the mural a handcrafted, gallery-like quality.
The palette includes warm ochre, olive, rust, burgundy, cream, black, and muted green tones, making it ideal for interiors with vintage, eclectic, maximalist, Western, or contemporary design influences.
MLAK works beautifully as a feature wall in living rooms, creative studios, hospitality spaces, boutique retail interiors, bars, lounges, and statement commercial projects.
This wallcovering is printed on an FSC-approved non-woven backing using HP Latex Ink Technology. It is a paste-the-wall product and should be installed using a quality pre-mixed adhesive suitable for non-woven wallpapers.
As MLAK is printed on a natural grasscloth ground, slight variations in colour, weave, texture, and visible seams should be expected. These natural characteristics are part of the beauty and individuality of grasscloth wallcoverings.
Professional installation is recommended.

MLAK Installation
Professional installation is recommended for MLAK. Please read all hanging instructions carefully before cutting or installing the wallcovering.
MLAK is a paste-the-wall wallcovering. Use a good quality, pre-mixed tub adhesive suitable for non-woven wallpapers. Paste should be applied directly to the wall, not to the printed surface of the wallcovering.
Before Installation
- Check that you have received the correct product and enough wallcovering to complete the installation.
- Inspect all panels before cutting or hanging to ensure they are free from defects or damage.
- Walls should be dry, clean, smooth, and even.
- Remove old wallpaper, loose paint, and any unstable surface material.
- Roughen painted surfaces lightly with sandpaper before hanging.
- For best results, cross line the walls using good quality lining paper.
- Allow lining paper to dry completely before installing the wallcovering.
- Plan the mural layout carefully before installation, especially around furniture, corners, doors, windows, and focal points.
Preparing the Wallcovering
- Lightly dampen the non-woven backing before hanging.
- Book the wallcovering for approximately 2 minutes before installation.
- Do not over-soak the wallcovering.
- Work with one length at a time.
Pasting and Hanging
- Apply adhesive evenly to the wall, covering an area slightly wider than the width of the wallcovering.
- Butt joints carefully during installation.
- Use a decorator’s brush to smooth the wallcovering from the centre toward the edges.
- Remove air bubbles gently as you work.
- Avoid squeezing paste out of the joints.
- Trim excess from the top and bottom using a metal edge and sharp blade.
- Change blades regularly to ensure clean cuts.
Important Notes
- Do not allow paste to come into contact with the printed surface.
- Keep hands clean and dry while handling the wallcovering.
- Paste may damage the surface if left on the wallcovering.
- If paste touches the surface, lightly sponge it while still moist using a clean damp sponge.
- If any defect is noticed during installation, stop hanging and contact the supplier before continuing.
- Natural grasscloth may have visible seams and variations in colour, weave, and texture between drops.
- These natural variations are part of the character of grasscloth wallcoverings and should not be considered defects.
Site conditions are beyond the supplier’s control. It is the responsibility of the buyer and installer to ensure the wall surface and environment are suitable before installation.
MLAK Care
MLAK is printed on a natural bleached sisal grasscloth ground and should be cared for gently to preserve the texture, artwork, and appearance of the wallcovering.

- Clean only by gently dusting with a clean, dry brush.
- A vacuum cleaner with a soft brush attachment may also be used.
- Do not scrub, wash, or sponge the surface.

- Avoid rubbing the surface, as this may damage the natural fibres and printed finish.
Important Care Notes
- Keep the wallcovering dry and avoid excessive moisture or humidity.
- Do not allow paste, cleaning products, or liquids to sit on the printed surface.
- If dust builds up over time, remove it gently using a dry brush or vacuum brush attachment.
- Natural grasscloth may show subtle variations in colour, weave, and texture.
- Visible seams and natural texture variations are expected with grasscloth wallcoverings and should not be considered defects.
Gentle dry cleaning only is recommended to maintain the beauty and longevity of MLAK.
